I wish someone had gotten to the naming committee before this whole movement got rolling. Given the attacks I’ve experienced on numerous blogs back in the days when I was still part of the print Borg, I do not expect the news that MSNBC.com has asked me to begin a Weblog to be met with universal acclaim. That’s OK, hits are hits. Negative attention, for a Web site, is still attention, and MSNBC.com and I will take anything we can get.

My name is Axel Swanson and it is with great pride that I write this letter announcing my candidacy for District 3 County Commissioner. With my Law and Masters Degrees behind me I hope to begin a bright future dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people of Cowlitz County.

Cowlitz County is a beautiful place to live and full of good people, but like any County we have our problems. Methamphetamine use continues to plague our communities, our property crime consistently ranks among the highest in the state, and our economy always seems vulnerable.

The challenges we face are serious, but not insurmountable.

With your support, I believe I have the proper balance of leadership, energy, creativity, experience and knowledge to make our County a better place to live.

I greatly appreciate any time you dedicate in getting to know me over the coming months and I very much look forward to meeting you this summer on the campaign trail.
